Anthony Joseph is one of the leading writers of his generation. Born in Trinidad, his experimental poetry, fiction, music and spoken word performances fuse Calypso rhythms with a postmodern eye, creating what he calls 'liquid textology'. Joseph is the author of two poetry collections, Desafinado in 1994 and Teragaton in 1997) and two spoken-word CDs Liquid Textology and Anthony Joseph & The Spasm Band which combined poetry and Afro-Caribbean free jazz. He cites his main influences as Jazz, Calypso, the Spiritual Baptist rhythms of his childhood, Surrealism and language poetry. See Anthony's page on Salt Publishing as well as www.myspace.com/adjoseph

The album cover with a pretty face dosnt allways means the music is pretty, but in this case it does.  SOCA 101 is a must CD for all the SOCA lovers.  Some of thes songs came out before the CD medium was invented and if you still have the records, you have collectors items which are now preserved on compact disc.
